Extended DISC® measures emotions

Extended DISC® measures the unconscious behaviour and compares it with the conscious adjusted behavioural style, allowing the measurement of emotions. It goes way beyond regular DISC in this regard. We can then look at the emotions being communicated by the respondent at the time of completion of the questionnaire, such as stress levels, un- certainty of his/her role, insecurity, frustration, and pressure to change. It also enables the report to define the influence of the present environment on the respondent’s motivation as far as certain needs are concerned. This is vital information both for the individual and the organisation.

More behavioural styles than in any other instrument

Extended DISC® assumes that an individual has reaction modes for all behavioural styles, of which he or she prefers some more than others. Recognising some 160 different styles, Extended DISC® allows an individual to be more flexible and dynamic (adapting) in his or her behaviour. Other DISC based programs assume an individual is either a feeling or thinking type, recognizing only four styles. Even Myers-Briggs, one of the best known assessment systems around, recognises only 16 different styles.

Extended DISC® is difficult to cheat

Extended DISC® is extremely difficult to cheat. DISC programs can (and often are) answered by the respondent in the way they believe their potential employer would like them to answer. This is because in the other DISC programs, the emphasis is on the conscious adjusted behavioural style. We know when someone has tried to beat the system. The report will be either invalid, show mirror profiles, show a tight Profile II or show an over-shift in Profiles. There is no way of knowing when a simple DISC report is inaccurate.

More stable results than with any other instrument

Profile II illustrates a person’s natural response to an external stimulus. It is the behavioural style that takes the least energy and effort, requires the least amount of concentration and is usually the most pleasant to the individual. It is possible to define action and thinking models to a person’s natural behavioural style by using Profile II. Any significant and large changes in it usually mean significant events and changes in the immediate environment of the individual. These are forcing him or her to seek new ways to cope.

Unique Features Measures the individual both on unconscious AND conscious levels

Profile I illustrates how the person feels they want/need to adjust their behaviour to cope with the requirements of the present environment. Profile I demonstrates the individual’s conscious understanding of oneself and one’s own behaviour in the present situation (conscious self image).

Extended DISC® not only assesses, but also helps the individual

By comparing these two profiles we can tell whether a person has tried to answer the questions the way they believe the interviewer wants them to appear, we can tell whether there is a key feeling of uncertainty or lack of clarity, whether the person feels insecure or whether a person is frustrated. We can even interpret a key feeling of helplessness and again whether a person is under pressure. We can tell whether a person feels the need to adjust, the amount they feel the need to adjust, and whether that adjustment is likely to lead to stress in the long haul.

Extended DISC® text bank is significantly larger than competitors’

The text bank is significantly larger than competitors. Indeed the text bank enables 228,383,696 totally different text pages to be generated. Our competition, at best, can create around 200 different texts. The style and format is concise and contains easy to understand graphic illustrations. Users can be trained to understand the more complex interpretation of the reports in a few hours.

Extended DISC® Reports are easy to obtain

Various options are available to obtain reports: Questionnaires can be completed on-line anywhere in the world. Reports are also available in PDF format direct from the server 24/7.

Available in several languages

Extended DISC® is available in 50 languages. All languages are available to all users. This feature is most useful when dealing with people whose original language is not English. For instance, North America and Australia are some of the largest ethnic melting pots.

Extended DISC® Diamond

A good understanding of the main behavioural styles is essential in using Extended DISC® assessments. Once the user has gained this understanding, it is very easy to apply this knowledge to numerous applications. Using a map analogy, once an individual learns to read maps, it is possible to look at any map in any part of the world and find one’s way around. The same is true with Extended DISC® Diamond.

Extended DISC® Diamond is based on the 4Q Mod- el and the four behavioural traits. Each of the different combinations of the four behavioural traits has its position in the Diamond.

The Extended DISC® Diamond allows the system to identify 160 behavioural styles. The identification of this many styles will allow more accurate and meaningful behavioural assessments. In everyday, practical applications we use four main behavioural styles.
